Aloha….February is Black History Month. This is the time to honor and celebrate the contributions of African Americans and African Descent in the world.

Free Weekly COVID-19 Testing

Hilo High School is offering voluntary free weekly COVID-19 testing to help keep our students, staff and community safe.

Daily Wellness Check Guidance

HIDOE employees, contracted service providers, visitors and students must complete a wellness check each morning before going to school or work if fully vaccinated or not. Please report any illness or COVID-19 exposure to the school or supervisor. Click on the article to read the guidance on performing a wellness check, and whether or not you have to isolate.

Hilo Blood Drive (January 18, 19 & 20, 2022)

Blood Bank of Hawaii is visiting Hilo for a Blood Drive on January 18, 19, & 20, 2022. Volunteers are needed to donate blood. Students over age of 16, teachers, and staff are welcome to participate.

PALC Spring 2022 Registration

The Performing Arts Learning Center will be opening registration for the Second Semester very shortly! Stay tuned for more information. Auditions will be coming up soon!

SY 21-22 Quarter 2 Report Cards

Second Quarter Report Cards will be distributed in students' STARS classes on Monday, January 10th, 2022.  Students without STARS can see Mrs. Lawrence at the LRC to pick up their report cards.  Distance learners can make arrangements to pick up report cards or check the Infinite Campus portal for final grades.

12/21/2021 Athletics Cancellations and Reschedules

Due to the weather and safety of our players, todays JV boys basketball game at Pahoa has been cancelled.

The girls varsity basketball game at Pahoa has been rescheduled until next week Wednesday December 29th at 3:30pm at Hilo High School Gym.

Incoming 9th Grade Class ZOOM Meeting

Mrs.Tillery, an HHS counselor, will be holding this meeting for incoming 9th-grade parents. During this meeting, we will go over registration guidelines and provide assistance for filling out the paperwork.

Spectators must be fully vaccinated for COVID 19 and present Vaccination Card, or present a negative antigen or PCR COVID 19 test taken through a certified CLIA certified laboratory within 48 hours. 11/28 - Lā Kūʻokoʻa | Hawaiian Independence Day

The Hawaiian Kingdom became an independent Nation state on November 28th 1843, with the leadership of Mōʻī Kamehameha the third- Kauikeaouli.  With the help of Timoteo Haʻalilo, William Richards, and Sir George Simpson who travelled to France, Europe and the United States,  Hawaiʻi became one of the the first non-European Nations recognized as an independent state in the world. This day became known as Lā Kūʻokoʻa or Hawaiian Independence Day.

Volunteer Wrestling Strength Training

All those in Wrestling may go every Tuesday & Thursday at 3:30 - 7:30 PM to train your Strength/Wrestling Techniques and Drills at the Old Gym. You will need to show proof of full vaccination, and /or exemption along with negative COVID test results within 72 hours of every practice. LTP: Panorama Survey

In November, your child will be asked to complete the 2021-2022 Panorama Student Perception Survey. Your child's perspective is highly valued. Their responses to the survey represent her/his voice in enhancing teacher practice and the whole school climate.

Attention Student Drivers

This is a reminder that entering and/or parking in the Hilo Intermediate School Parking lot is not allowed. Students have been waiting in their parking lot until 8am in order to quickly park on Waianuenue Avenue after the one-way traffic pattern. This causes their faculty and staff parking stalls to be overloaded. Student drivers who wish to park on the Hilo High School campus are invited to complete a First Come First Serve Student Parking Application with the main office.

Senior Night Games This Week

The last home game for Viking athletes marks a special occasion for seniors as they are recognized and celebrated for their athletic achievements within the team. Tomorrow, the girls volleyball team will be playing their last home game of the season against Waiakea High School and our Football boys will be played against Kealakehe on Friday.

Tune in to our KVIKS Media live stream on Thursday Morning at 10 AM to watch the JV Girls Volleyball game, with varsity soon to follow, and tune in on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 6 PM for the Boys Varsity Football match.

November 9, 2021 Swimming Tryouts Meeting

Any HHS student interested in trying out for the 2021-22 HHS Varsity Swim & Dive team is invited to the informational meeting today Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 12:25p at the swimming pool (Section C). Hope to see you there!

Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 is Unity Day

Unity day is a day to promote kindness, acceptance and aloha. We encourage everyone to wear Orange in support of Unity Day and earn 10 HERO points. Create a poster sign with a positive message and let’s wave it during Wednesday morning from 7:20 to 7:50 am to show our solidarity. Please come to Mrs. Masuhara’s room A-16 to get poster supplies. School Bus Driver Shortages

Due to a shortage of school bus drivers, children eligible for student transportation services may need to find alternative transportation to and from school.

Learning Resource Center Closed Monday, September 13, 2021

LRC will be closed all day for ASVAB Testing on Monday, September 13, 2021 and will reopen on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. The Hilo High School Student Credit Union (located in the LRC) will also be closed and will be open for regular business on Tuesday.
