Distance Learning to Continue Through SY 20-21 Quarter 3

High schools in our complex, Hilo High School along with Waiakea High School will be continuing with our distance learning program throughout Quarter 3. Our teachers will continue to provide lessons virtually and our Learning Hubs will continue to be open. Virtual Drivers Ed Program Sign Up (January - February, 2021)

Tentative dates: Mandatory Parent & Student Meeting: January 21, 2021, classes: January 25, 2021 - February 18, 2021, BTW: TBD. By completing this form, you will be placed on a waitlist for upcoming Driver Education classes at Hilo High School. Classes are currently being held virtually with a maximum number of participants of 14. In-person classes may resume once students are back on campus. Did you know that Hilo High School has a nurse in the health room to work with the School Health
Assistant (SHA) in supporting your child’s health and education? Hilo High School is staffed with a
Hawai‘i Keiki registered nurse (RN). When your child is sick at school, this nurse can assess your child
and decide if your child needs to go home, see a medical provider, or can stay at school.

10/12/2020 Letter to Parents - HIDOE Statement on Acellus

Parent message from Supt. Kishimoto regarding instructional review of Acellus. In a letter to families, Superintendent Christina Kishimoto said the HIDOE has completed a review of Acellus and is working to move forward in a manner that supports students in the least disruptive manner possible.

Free Grab-and-Go meals program launching at Hilo High School this fall

The Hawaii State Department of Education (HIDOE) Grab-and-Go school meals program will be returning for the fall semester at 203 public schools beginning on Monday, Oct. 12, through Friday, Dec. 18, to provide free meals to children ages 18 and younger. The meals are available to children regardless of whether or not they are enrolled at the distribution site, are public school students, or are eligible for the free or reduced-price lunch program.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides parent(s)/guardian(s) of a HIDOE student, the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teacher(s) and if the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so their qualifications. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s classroom teacher(s) and paraprofessional(s) and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner upon request.

The Department will use the additional time to plan for implementation of social distancing within the school setting, arrange for professional development to support modified operations, and thoroughly clean schools.

BIIF Events Cancelled Until Further Notice (3/13/2020)

Attention athletes, as of 3/13/2020, any BIIF related event is cancelled or postponed until further notice. This includes practices and matches. Check back here as more information is released. This is in accordance to a similar decision from the HHSAA to suspend all athletic activities statewide due to the rising threat of the COVID-19 Coronavirus Pandemic.

SBA Test for Juniors

The Smarter Balanced Assessment is coming up juniors!
The dates will be:
March 30-April 3 for the Math portion during your math class,
ELA will be taken from April 13-24 during your english class, and
Makeup testing will be from April 27-May 1.

Senior Prom Packet Dropoff / Payment

Seniors - prom packet dropoff and payment have been extended from Tuesday, 3/3/20 to Friday, 3/6/2020 during lunch recess in front of A12B.


YMCA College Camp from May 30th-June 5th on Oahu. It is an all-expense paid for Accepted Students. Application information can be picked up in A-1 or found online at . Please see Mrs. Frias if you have any questions!

U.S Army Visitation

The United States Army will be visiting us on Thursday, March 12, 2020 @9:55am during Pd. 3. Come to Room A-1 to sign up and receive a pass to attend their presentation. See you then!

Iolani SAT/ACT Prep Program

Listen up 9th,10th, and 11th graders! Would you like to attend Iolani School's SAT/ACT Prep Program this summer? The dates that the program will be from June 15th to July 24th.
